It's been a busy time for me over the holidays, and now into January. My book, ErRatic, has been contracted by Five Star (yay!), and I'm rushing to rewrite it for the editor. I have a contract waiting for another book, In Flames, with Linden Bay Romance, if I can get it finished in February.
I've discovered something lately by listening to authors (like me) who have a number of novels with smaller publishers. One of the best ways to get their names out there is to continue to have something new before their readers every few months. That's really difficult, because writing involves rough drafts, final drafts, and edits. It's a process! I know at the moment I have 5 books making publishing rounds, 1 book I'm working to rough, 3 others half-written, 1 in final draft (nearly final copy), and heaps of promotional work involving author chats, etc.
Phew!
Writing can no longer be much of a part-time job! It's busy and full on.
One of the "fun" things I've been doing is making book trailers. I've made one for In Trysts, my book with Linden Bay Romance. The trailer was my first, and you can see it at: http://flash-movies.toufee.com/mov/32861168994619 . No sound right now, but I'm new to this.
I also did one for my friend Jane (www.janebeckenham.com) for her book, Be My Valentine: http://flash-movies.toufee.com/mov/36371169692268 .
Eventually, I want to do a trailer and podcast for each of my series. The next one is going to be Gilded Folly.
I'm not posting an excerpt this month, but you can read a rather *hot* (R17, at least!) bit at my romance website, http://MelodyKnight.com . Either that, or go to www.NDHansen-Hill.com and click on a specific book. There's an excerpt from ErRatic there, too - unedited. Enjoy!
Cheers, and best wishes,
ND/Melody
